An exciting day camp for children aged 8 - Teens (older children will be
considered depending on social/cognitive level). This program is offered
in two-week sessions only.
Riding...
Campers participate in group riding lessons each day (except Wednesdays). The large indoor arena and outdoor riding ring are used for lessons. Riders have the opportunity to explore the beautiful farm trails on horseback.
Riding groups are carefully arranged according to riding level, age and experience, with a maximum of six riders in each lesson. Lessons are taught by our full-time staff instructors who are all certified through the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA) and Equine Canada. Counselors, LITs and trained volunteers assist individual riders during lessons as needed. ASTM approved safety helmets are provided by Sunrise. Horses are a big part of all Sunrise programs. In the Riding Day Camp, campers learn about horses and their care through daily Stable Management lessons and related hands-on activities. Equine topics include grooming, feeding, bedding and horse health.
Swimming...
Our
beautiful 20 x 40 in-ground swimming pool provides opportunities to cool off during daily activities. All swimming activities are supervised by certified lifeguards.
Crafts, Games and Nature Studies...
Theme Days...
Wednesdays are a special day at Sunrise, with fun themes and exciting
team games, enabling children from both Farm Discovery and Riding camps
to interact and play together. Wednesday programs often
include special guest visitors, horse-drawn wagon rides and swimming.
BBQ Night... On the last Thursday of each two-week riding session, parents and siblings join campers from our Riding Camp at Sunrise for a Family BBQ Night. Campers perform skits and songs for their families that they have planned and practiced as a team.
Christian Camp Programs...
Our small camp creates a family atmosphere where teamwork and respect for others are emphasized. Two of the four sessions are Christian Camps, where Bible verses, Christian children’s stories and songs are incorporated into the values education that is part of every session of Camp Sunrise.
