Our summer staff have been hired, thank you to all those who applied.

Camp Sunrise is an integrated day camp, for children with and without special needs. We offer two summer programs, a Riding Camp for ages 7 to 12 and a Farm Discovery Camp for ages 5 to 10. The Riding Camp includes daily riding lessons (taught by our full-time certified instructors) and stable management lessons. Our Farm Discovery Camp focuses on hands-on learning about nature and animals (such as our donkey and alpacas). Specific sessions are interdenominational Christian camps. Our 105-acre farm, located near Guelph, includes a new swimming pool, indoor and outdoor arenas and a herd of 28 horses. We are hiring for the following positions for 2008:

Camp Counsellors- Riding Camp OR Farm Discovery Camp

Supervise a group of 6 children each week, including some with special needs.

Plan and lead group activities: sports, games, crafts, animal care lessons, nature studies, etc.

Adapt programming to the ages and abilities of the children and facilitate teamwork among campers

Skills and Experience Required:

Prior work with children, including those with special needs

Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills

Familiarity with / strong interest in working around animals
English riding experience and knowledge of horse care / stable management (Riding Camp Counselors)

The Following Skills Would Be Assets:

Leadership/ teaching experience in a camp setting

Experience planning / teaching nature-related activities

Experience with leadership programs / mentoring for young teens

Camp Counsellor / Lifeguards

Same Job Description as Camp Counsellors, but applicants will have valid NLS certification and will assist with supervision of their campers during swimming activities.

Notes for Summer Staff Applicants

Sunrise is located in Puslinch, 12-15 minutes from Guelph & Cambridge. Staff must have their own transportation.
All positions are full-time Mon-Fri, Mid June to late August.
Some evening work (alternate Thursdays) is expected.
