Thank you for helping to make the Sunrise recycling program a success!  Keep it coming!! Abitibi pays Sunrise based on weight (fine paper, newsprint, magazines, mail, books without the covers).  There are two bins in the parking lot for your convenience.

“Building Brighter Futures” Development Campaign

 

We have met our $1 million goal! 

 

Recent Project Grants

We extend a big thank you to the following organizations for their generous support of special projects to enhance facilities and program resources at Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre.

 

Farm Credit Canada:  $15,000 AgriSpirit grant to:

 

·        Replace footing in indoor arena

·        Improve drainage around alpaca / miniature horse paddock

·        Purchase a storage shed (“AgriSpirit Tack & Feed Room”) to house feed, tack and supplies for the alpacas, miniature horses and donkeys, providing easy access for stable assistants, instructors and campers working with these animals

 

 

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada:  $15,000 grant to:

 

·        Renovate empty room across from tack room into McDonald’s Children’s Room.   This will be a quiet space for those children who need it during camp, for body breaks, and before therapy lessons.  It will also be used when assessing prospective new riders. 

·        Purchase specialized equipment:  bubble tubes, acrylic wall mirrors, interactive wall panels and other sensory apparatus

·        Furnish the room:  physiotherapy table, vinyl benches and soft chairs

 

Additional thanks for the following donations:

·        Simor Gelman, Interiors Only Inc. - cork flooring

·        Ferra Flooring - Flooring installation

·        Rona Cashway – Flooring underpad

·        Lites - Light fixtures

·        Karen Sloot for painting the beautiful mural in the McDonald’s Children’s Room

·        Peter Hall-Jones for donating his time and expertise in installing, taping and mudding the drywall

Ontario Trillium Foundation - $49,400 grant to:

 

·        Replace fencing in the majority of the paddocks, improving safety and effectiveness

·        Replace the roof on Marguerite’s Discovery Centre and the farmhouse Community Room

·        Install a P.A. system which will provide music to the arena for lessons, allow the parents in the viewing room to hear the lessons, and also provide us with a P.A. unit for horse shows and special events.

 

 

Rotary Club of Guelph - $75,000 grant over three years (2007/08 to 2009/10) for the Rotary Club of Guelph Children’s Nature Project, which includes construction of the following, to enhance Sunrise’s nature programs for children of all abilities:

·        Tree planting program

·        Rotary Nature Pavilion, an indoor teaching space

·        Raised (accessible) flower beds

·        Live willow gazebo

·        Accessible teaching pond
