Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre

Internship Program
Opportunity in Canada

Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, provides internship opportunities as part of their year-round therapeutic riding program for children and adults with special needs.  The intern will work towards instructor certification through the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA).

Through full-participation in all aspects of the Sunrise program, interns gain knowledge in therapeutic riding, horse care, and stable management.  Working as part of the Sunrise team five days per week, interns live in the century stone farmhouse on the Sunrise property free-of-charge.  This is an unpaid position.

Sunrise’s interns are trained by Nicola Harman, CanTRA Coach & Examiner, and, on a daily basis, Krista Breen, Sunrise Head Instructor, CTRI, EC Instructor and Nikki Charbonneau, CTRI, EC Instructor.  All of Sunrise’s instructors are certified through CanTRA and interns will have the opportunity to work with, and learn from, these instructors.  The level of certification that will be achieved by the intern is dependent on the intern’s background, length of stay at Sunrise and ability to prepare for the examination.

Summer Camp Program:  There are also openings for interns to participate in the summer day camp programs from June to August each year.  Horse/farm experience is necessary.

Applications are available on the Sunrise website.  Please forward to Lynne O’Brien, Sunrise Operations Manager: www.sunrise-therapeutic.ca, lynne@sunrise-therapeutic.ca  519-837-0558, ext. 31
