Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre

At Sunrise, up to 150 volunteers assist in all areas of the program. This includes lessons, serving on the Board of Directors, special events and various committees which meet to help direct Sunrise and make plans for the future. Each year dozens of volunteers work on the Golf Tournament, Open House, HOOFBEAT Challenge and Christmas Party to raise money and public awareness for Sunrise.

What would we do without them?!

Sunrise relies heavily on the help and support of these dedicated volunteers.

Requirements

Be at least 15 years old

Attend ONE of the Training Clinics

Provide two references

Submit a Police Record Check (only those 18 years of age and over)

"What volunteer opportunities are at Sunrise?"

Lesson Volunteers
Sunrise is looking for volunteers to help with therapy lessons in our core program. We require leaders to lead (direct) the horse and sidewalkers to assist the rider. Leaders and sidewalkers must have attended an Orientation & Training Clinic.

Special Event Volunteers
Sunrise is also in need of volunteers to help with special events. We need volunteers to do things like set up and clean up, food booth, games, activities, etc... on the day of special events. Some events are to raise money for Sunrise and other events are to promote public awareness of the centre and our programs. You can help with special events after attending an orientation clinic.

Planning Volunteers
Perhaps you are interested in joining a committee to organize a special event. Maybe you have a fundraising idea you would like to share with our staff. Or maybe you are willing to host, plan and organize a complete event to support Sunrise.

Office or Maintenance Volunteers
Volunteers are also needed to assist with newsletter mail outs and other light office duties. We are hoping to develop a larger maintenance crew to help with the clean up of our grounds and with the up-keep of the gardens and buildings.
